One problem with this form of regenerative medicine is that very few organs or tissues can actually accommodate the extra transplanted cells. An example of this is the lungs. If the lungs are just grown to make the patient healthier through the transplantation of adult lungs, they may only be able to take in enough air for the short term.
Animal Products and Tissue Engineering The third area of focus for regenerative medicine is the use of animal products. Some animal tissues and even some humans have been used for the transplants.
